When you register for classes at Olympian Swimming, we ask basic questions to best gauge which level we think your child should be swimming and therefore which group. We have 3 distinct groups; Level 1-3 (Water Safety & Orientation), Level 4-6 (Stroke Development &Foundation), Level 7-12 (Stroke Enhancement & Efficiency).

On your first class we will also evaluate your swimmer to ensure we have chosen the correct level and that they are in the correct group.

If we need to make a slight adjustment to the swimmers level, either up or down and this does not affect group placement, we will simply change the level. In the case where your swimmer is too strong for a group (or to weak), our deskstaff team will be in touch to adjust your schedules.

No problem, you are entitled to unlimited makeup lessons. However we must be notified a minimum of 2 hours prior to your scheduled class. Notifications must be done using your on-line customer account. When logging into your account, you will have the option either to put your class on hold or to reschedule to another date. Remember this must be done a minimum of 2 hours prior to the class to be eligible

The best time to check for availability is usually the day of you are hoping to swim and a few hours prior to the time block you are available. Our makeup policy is that we must be notified a minimum of 2 hours in advance. Everyday we usually have 10% availability due to cancellations. Also keep in mind, we send out text message reminders every night at 7:00pm to all swimmers who will be swimming the next day, therefore checking the night before can also help in finding availability.

Absolutely!!

After logging into your account, simply select the pool you would like to reschedule your classes to and the software will take care of the rest

Absolutely, having different coaches will bring fresh eyes to the swimmer and new and different ways of teaching the same progressions. Some coaches are stricter, some are gentler, some are in between, but they are all teaching the same progressions and are able to identify very quickly where your swimmer is on the progression chart and then continue from there.

This also gives you a chance to see what style of coaching works best for your child and you can then try to select certain coaches using your online account based on your preferences.

Your swimmers are always tested on their 9th class, and then again on the 10th class, should they be unsuccessful on their first attempt. Our goal is to give your swimmer every opportunity to succeed. If your swimmer has been assessed as PASS, congratulations on this accomplishment. Passing a level represents a milestone in our progression program. It's takes time to perfect, practice makes perfect and they have succeeded. If your swimmer has been assessed as REPEAT on their 9th class TEST, we will automatically re-test on their 10th class to ensure that they have every opportunity to succeed. We would suggest reviewing the skill set areas that need improvement and the Coaches commentsIf at your sessions completion (10th class) your swimmer is confirmed as REPEAT, do not worry, this is entirely normal and part of the progression process. Again practice makes perfect

Absolutely. In each 10 week session, we will teach your child progressions designated for each level in our OLYMSWIM program. Once the swimmer performs these skills correctly and consistently, we will automatically proceed to the next progression. At the end of 10 weeks we test to see how far the swimmer progressed and evaluate accordingly.

Yes, swimming skills take time to perfect, practice makes perfect. Your swimmers age, level of motor co-ordination and water feel all contribute to the learning curve. Sometimes it takes constant repetition to engrain fundamental skills. Remember that we are trying to build a strong foundation that will carry your swimmer throughout their life. On average swimmers will repeat all levels twice. Common sticking points are the younger the swimmer the higher the likelihood they will repeat level 3 going into 4, learning 3 cycle breathing in level 5, whip kick in level 7.

Definitely not, that is the benefit of our progression program and the reason we swim multiple levels together. The moment a swimmer completes the necessary progressions, the coach will immediately start teaching the next progression and will continue to do this throughout the 10 class session. At the end of the session (class 9 & 10) the coach will then assess how far they were able to get them on the progression chart and complete a report that reflects their current level of ability. Its a real montessori approach to teaching !!

Most weaknesses are the result of a foundation that needs further development. The goal is to strengthen that base, this usually represents a set of skills that are fundamental (kicking and body position) . This then enables you to progress. An example would be a swimmer that is have problems executing the FLIP. The goal would not be to keep doing it over and over, but rather go back and strengthen the front and back kick separately and then come back to the FLIP

We believe that exposing swimmers to upcoming level skills regardless of what their current level is maximizes their learning curve. In other words, we will teach them whatever they are capable of learning regardless of level as long as they reach the crucial progressions in each level.

Everyone must work together to keep our decks clean. No outdoor shoes whatsoever are permitted on the pool deck, as outdoor shoes carry bacteria. We offer booties at the pool entrance (if you forget your indoor shoes). Alternately you are welcome to watch from the pool gallery.

In addition, for the same reason, strollers are not permitted on the pool deck
